Four Q345qD steel box girder spans totaling about 1,900 tonnes for the Jinshui Road–Zhongzhou Avenue interchange in Zhengzhou.
Project location: Jinshui Road and Zhongzhou Avenue, Zhengzhou, Henan, China
Steel box girder package
The Jinshui Road–Zhongzhou Avenue interchange forms part of a 4.5 km urban road improvement corridor in Zhengzhou. The wider project includes eight steel box girder spans. HFCG’s documented package covered four spans, with a combined steel quantity of approximately 1,900 tonnes.
The four recorded spans measure 42.458 m, 59.056 m, 70.870 m and 124.25 m. Project records specify Q345qD bridge steel. The longest span, ZEU06, crosses Jinshui Road; the other documented spans include SNU01, SNU02 and ZEU08.
Fabrication and erection in an urban corridor
Transport limits required the girders to be fabricated in sections and joined at the bridge site. Mobile cranes were used for SNU01, SNU02 and ZEU08. The 124.25 m ZEU06 span was erected with a launching gantry.
Using different erection methods for the spans helped address lifting needs and access constraints within a busy urban interchange.
Urban traffic connection
The interchange improvements support grade-separated traffic movements along Zhongzhou Avenue and its connecting ramps. The steel box girders form part of the road network upgrade in the city corridor.
